USA National Clogging Championships
Beginning in 2012 and all future National Championships sponsored by CLOG/NCHC or any subsequent organization to sponsor a National Clogging Competition championship, the overall top trophy will be henceforth named, published and in all ways promoted as the Douglas Trophy.
The Douglas Trophy is named for John and Betty Douglas of Alpharetta, Georgia. John and Betty started clogging in 1973. They co-directed the National Champion 8 couple precision team, Georgia Sunshine Cloggers for many years.
John was a founding member of CLOG and served as its first Vice President. He served as President and Chairman of the Board for over 20 years. He attained the CCI and CCJ designations. Under his leadership, CLOG grew from a state organization to the nations largest and premier clogging organization with Annual Conventions hosting in excess of 6,000 participants.
Clogging became a family passion with both of their sons who won individual championships. In addition they danced and directed several other nationally known teams.
On behalf on the CLOG Board of Directors and Executive Directors - We send a special thank you to John & Betty Douglas for their support and contributions to CLOG/NCHC.
